You can always be surprised by a late spring freeze that can ruin your outdoor plants in your garden. Putting a tarp over your plants can be a cheap and easy solution to protect your plants from frost. It is a shame if you lose your plants to frost, and putting a tarp over them is an easy way to keep this from happening.
If it gets too cold outside, the frost that accumulates on your plants can actually burn their leaves, which then die off. This might not necessarily kill the plant, but it definitely isn't good for it either. But, if it gets too cold, the water inside of the plant's leaves and stems and freeze, and this may cause the plant to die. Cold weather snaps can come at any time, and it is always a good idea to be prepared for a late freeze.
Most tarps vendors offer great selection of tarps that can be used for this purpose. A cheap blue polyethylene tarp would be a good choice. These tarps are strong, water proof, and easy to handle. They could easily be used to cover your outdoor plants during a frost. These high grade tarps are mildew resistant, tear resistant, and are UV treated on both sides of the tarp. Having one of these tarps on hand is a great way to help you in case of a late freeze. Be prepared and save your garden.
