Everyone knows how versatile poly tarps can be. They can be used for a variety of different applications from covering your vehicles that are exposed to the elements or as weather protection for your wood pile or livestock feed. They can be ordered in a variety of different shapes and sizes land can even be customized to fit snugly on even the oddest shapes. They do have other things they can be used for though, one of them is as a cheap and convenient tent while you are camping or as a ground cover under a tent you may already have.

If you have a tarp, some rope, and a couple of wide spaced trees, you can make a quick portable shelter. These can be ideal when camping in areas that have unpredictable weather conditions, and buying a tarp and some rope can be much less expensive than a regular tent. They are waterproof, wind resistant, and quick to set up. If you have a big enough tarp, you can have both a covering against the elements, but part of it can also be used as a floor for your sleeping area.

Smaller sized tarps make a great extra ground cover for your tent. They can be an extra barrier where the ground is damp and if it rains you don't have to worry about the floor of your tent getting flooded. They can be used for a normal tent set up, or for an emergency shelter, just about anything you need them for while camping. They can be laid out for an impromptu blanket for a romantic outdoor lunch with someone you love. Really, no car trunk or truck bed should be without one.

You can find a variety of different tarps, from many outlets. They come in a wide range of different colors, including camouflage, which you can set up as a blind when hunting. Sizes range from 4'x6' all the way up to 20'x30'. You can also special order larger sizes if you need them. There are websites that have portable garage frames for tarps, and they can be fitted for sales tents at craft shows and fairs.

In order to get the best deal on poly tarps, it is a good idea to shop around. Make sure your tarp has reinforced edges and grommets, and that the grommets are steel to resist rust. You should also make sure that the insides of the grommets are smooth, so your rope doesn't get snagged and break while you have your tarp set up. Some have a strong cloth mesh woven in, and these are great for setting up a wind breaker.

There are some other things you should also consider when purchasing your poly tarps. One is that these can be heavy, so you need to find a website that offers free shipping. You may have to make a minimum purchase order in order to get the free shipping, and some sites offer discounts for bulk orders of ten or more tarps. This is a good idea, because you just never know when having a good waterproof tarp will come in handy. Usually it is better to have more than you need, rather than the other way around.
